PINNER Thomas "Tom"

Tom Pinner is a man of many parts and over the last 25 years or so has been known in the South-West and Great Southern, among other things as farmer, bookmaker, cinema proprietor, hotel-keeper and horse owner.“ The Western Mail; 1949.
Tom Pinner married Elizabeth "Cissy" Thornton in 1925,(her second marriage) she was Dudley Thornton's mother.
The licence for the Gnowangerup Hotel was transferred from Robert Norris to Tom Pinner in January 1936, and he was there until about 1946. After 1946 he leased it to Richard Homes and Co, who put in Jack Dirk as manager. The verandah (behind the car) was enclosed at some stage to enlarge the front bar.

Tom Pinner gave up hotel-keeping at Gnowangerup to become a Breeder of Pacers by Newbury Nestling at the base of the Darling Ranges, near Kalamunda, in the district known as Forrestfield. Sadly Tom passed away in 1966 aged 78-79.

One of their sons married Morton, married Jean Irving, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. F. Irving of Daglish, in the Ross Memorial Church in 1950.

Charles Dudley Thornton, son of Arthur Newtown and Elizabeth Thornton married Shirley Anne Aylmore in 1959.
